01/05/2006 | KEEP COOL WITH TISS TRAILER TRACKING

TISS Security Systems have won orders for their GPS vehicle and trailer tracking systems with Exel, NCP and the Ministry of Defence. TISS offer a range of tracking devices with “Bronze, Silver or Gold” options, which have different functionality to suit customers’ needs.

The “Bronze” solution has generated extensive interest due to its suitability for tracking trailers. Additionally, it is the cheapest tracking solution in the UK costing from just £1.50 per week. The ‘click and locate’ system enables users to obtain an exact location for both individual trailers and the entire trailer fleet using TISS’ website. The system also informs the client of any trailers that have not moved for long periods of time, consequently enabling them to improve their fleet utilisation.

The system is also popular because it is battery operated. In addition to lasting up to 4 years, it removes the necessity of wiring the unit into a power supply, meaning that the unit is transferable, quick to install and can be placed covertly in a trailer.

TISS Sales Director, Ryan Wholey, comments: ‘with the bronze system, the customer can locate their entire trailer fleet with just one click. In addition, because the system is internet based, the client can locate their fleet anywhere they have internet access '.

The “Silver” option is used by Exel and NCP to track their high risk vehicles. This option enables the client to get alive ‘snail trail’ of the route a vehicle has taken anywhere in Europe.

The “Gold” solution was chosen by the Ministry of Defence to fit to their support vehicles. This system also offers live tracking, but additional is fully configurable to a customer’s requirements and can be integrated with a customer’s current scheduling and back-office software. In addition, it can be linked to a variety of sensors around the vehicle including Canbus and Temperature sensors.

Using standard temperature sensors or RFID Temperature tags, the temperature is recorded in real time and a message is relayed back to the client’s PC informing them if the temperature breaches predefined parameters.

Sales Director Ryan says: 'due to the ability to integrate temperature sensors into the tracking system, the system is perfectly suited to the needs of cold chain storage fleet operators.’

TISS also offer a range of other security products including Fuel Anti-siphons and slash proof curtains. TISS have sold over 10,000 security systems to companies including Exel, Wincanton, Christian Salvesen, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, NCP, Reality and James Nuttall.
