17/02/2006 | FOWLER WELCH COOLCHAIN LTD IMPROVE MPG WITH TISS ANTI-SIPHON

Fowler Welch Coolchain Ltd are the latest company to equip their entire fleet of vehicles with the new “Easy-Fit Float Chamber” fuel anti-siphon device from TISS Trailer Security.

Fowler Welch Coolchain Ltd’s National Fleet Manager, Robert Oliphant praised the device: “upon fitting the TISS anti-siphon, we were very pleased to see an almost immediate improvement on the vehicles’ MPG performances”.

The improved MPG is a result of TISS’s unique “Float Chamber”, which is the only anti-siphon available that prevents any fuel being siphoned from the tank even if it is completely full.  The device works because the float valve allows fuel to flow IN but does not allow siphoning OUT as the valve locks off when the tank is full. TISS have sold over 7,000 units to become the market leading anti-siphon provider in the UK.

Mr Oliphant adds: “we found the device easy to fit… and are now achieving significant fuel savings across the total vehicle fleet”.

TISS Sales Director, Ryan Wholey, explains how the Float Chamber system can improve MPG figures  by as much as 1mpg per vehicle “its unique design eradicates ‘skimming’ of the top few centimetres of fuel; a practice that accounts for 99% of fuel theft from HGVs.  Since fitting the anti-siphon some of our customers have reported reductions in their fuel bills of up to 6% which is a major cost saving”.

2006 has already seen a big rise in demand for TISS systems, with record numbers of anti-siphons sold to companies including Exel, Christian Salvesen and James Nuttall.  These include sales of TISS’s new “Standard EasyFit” anti-siphon which is the shortest anti-siphon device on the market and can be fitted in less than one minute.    TISS Sales Director, Ryan comments:  “with the launch of our improved “Standard Easy-Fit” we can now offer haulier’s 2 anti-siphons to prevent any type of fuel theft, whether it is due to 3rd parties or driver skimming”.
