1. How does TankSafe differ from other anti-siphons?
Due to its unique float-valve, the 'Impregnable' is the only anti-siphon available that prevents ANY fuel being siphoned and stops diesel spillages. There are similar, but inferior designs to our 'Standard' anti-siphon available. However, because our system is shorter than competing systems, it allows less fuel to be siphoned.
2. Does TankSafe prevent diesel spills?
Our Float and Impregnable units DO prevent spillage - an important Health and Safety benefit. No other anti-siphons have this feature.
3. Does TankSafe affect filling speed?
TankSafe has been tested at 120 litres per min dispension rate (fastest commercial pump) and has no adverse effect on filling speed.
4. What if the operator does not believe they are suffering fuel theft?
On average, our customers have reported improvements of 0.5mpg per vehicle after fitting TankSafe. This equates to a saving of 6% on their annual fuel bill, which is primarily due to preventing drivers stealing fuel for their personal use.
5. When will I start to make a financial saving after fitting TankSafe?
With proven savings of around 6% on fuel bills, payback can be achieved in as little as 3 weeks.
6. How is TankSafe fitted to the fuel tank?
The device is permanently fitted to the tank using adhesive. Alternatively, TankSafe can be supplied with grub screws if a transferable unit is required.
7. If the filler neck is protected, surely the thief will just spike the tank?
Because 99% of fuel is stolen by drivers, they are highly unlikely to damage their own fuel tank. Additionally, if a potential 3rd party thief sees a Truck protected by TankSafe, they are more liable to attack a truck that has no anti-siphon fitted.
8. If Trucks are on lease or hire, how will this be affected by fitting TankSafe?
The grub screw fitting option means that at the end of the lease period the unit can be removed with no damage to the fuel tank.
9. What is TankSafe manufactured from?
TankSafe is completely manufactured from high quality aluminum.
10. Is TankSafe compliant with Customs and Excise Regulations?
Please see the statement below from Steve Hopkins, Head of the Fuel Testing Unit of Customs and Excise:
"No HM Revenue & Customs legislation is being breached by the fitment of fuel antitheft devices. The only legal provision on the part of the owner/responsible person in respect of a vehicle is to provide a fuel sample when required.... by making available a sample from another part of the fuelling system, normally from a point in the fuelling system close to the engine. Where we do encounter anti-theft devices in nearly all cases it has been possible to reach an amicable solution to the sampling problem and meet the requirements of the legislation." SJ Hopkins, Senior Policy Advisor, HM Revenue & Customs.
